Nagpur: The Parseoni-based Arvind Indo Public School has been banned for one year in participating in any sporting events. The action by District Sports Officer follows the school sending its students to a tournament despite having no recognition.

The office-bearers of Nagrik Hakka Sanrakshan Manch and Suchana Adhikar Karyakarta Mahasangh Shekhar Kolte and Arif Patel had exposed several ‘illegal’ acts of the school in the past including sending students of Class VIII to participate in School Sports Tournament and Scout Guides flouting rules and regulations.

Subsequently, Kolte had lodged complaints with officials of Education and Sports Departments as well as Mantralaya. The matter had even reached High Court. But despite providing several opportunities the school Principal did not show its interest to clear its stand.

Finally, cracking the whip, the District Sports Officer Avinash Pund banned Arvind Indo Public School from participating in any school sporting events for one year. The action against the school is first of its kind in State. The ban on the school means its students would be deprived of participating in sporting events for one year and displaying their talent.
