Nagpur: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics, the Nagpur Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has seized a massive consignment of 505 kilograms of ganja from a truck near Mathani Toll Plaza in Mouda. The operation has led to the arrest of the truck driver and exposed an interstate drug trafficking network allegedly operating between Odisha and Nagpur.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the ANTF team laid a trap in the Mouda area on Monday morning. Using mobile location tracking, police traced the suspected truck and intercepted it at the Mathani Toll Naka. During inspection, officials discovered approximately 505 kg of ganja concealed inside the vehicle.
Prior to this major seizure, police had conducted a raid in the Zingabai Takli area and arrested a notorious drug peddler, Abdul Waheed alias ‘Khoka’. Investigations revealed that he was allegedly operating the drug trade network from his in laws’ residence. Around 75 kg of ganja was recovered from his house during the earlier raid.
During interrogation, police found clues in the accused’s mobile phone, including contact with a suspicious number based in Odisha. Further technical analysis indicated that a truck carrying a large consignment was heading towards Nagpur. Based on this information, the ANTF team swiftly set up a checkpoint at Mouda Toll Plaza, leading to the seizure of the huge stock and the unearthing of an interstate smuggling racket.
The arrested truck driver is currently being interrogated, and police are expanding the probe to trace the entire network involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
