Black mailing out of love break up led the girl to take extreme step
Nagpur: The Ambazari police arrested two persons in connection with the suicide of the BA Part III student of LAD College Shreya Sanjiv Bhandarkar. Shreya had ended her life by consuming poison at her rented premises in Gandhi Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Ambazari police station on Friday. The names of the arrested were given as Ketan Devrao Dekate (26), a resident of Sakoli in Bhandara district and his mother Vidya Devrao Dekate (51).
According to information given by police sources, Shreya had a relationship with Ketan, but had a break up. Feeling insulted with the break up, Ketan frequently called up Shreya. When she refused to entertain his calls, Ketan reportedly threatened her that he has some objectionable photographs of Shreya and would make them public if she doesn’t meet him.
Shreya then called up Ketan’s mother Vidya to seek her help. But, to her surprise, Vidya instead of trying to finding a solution, scolded her and even abused her, it is learnt. Seeing no respite in sight, Shreya made up her mind to lodge a complaint with the Cyber Cell of Nagpur Police and consulted her father about the same. Her father however, was reluctant about it as it would give a bad name to the girl.
Shreya somehow gathered the courage and on May 3, lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell stating that Ketan was blackmailing her. Even before the cyber police could swing into action, Shreya took the extreme step and consumed poison on the same day ending her life.
While investigating the matter, Ambazari police learnt about the complaint with Cyber Cell and proceeded on the same and arrested the duo on Monday. They were produced before the court, which remanded them to police custody till Wednesday morning.
