In the interesting, and, shocking, too, development, police were forced to book bridegroom and two other persons for the offence of cheating. According to police, one Anand Bagde, a resident of New Thawre Colony, Nagpur, was supposed to marry with a Jaripatka-based girl. However, the bridegroom, did not reach with “Barat” at a lawn on Kamptee Road for the reasons of no dowry from bride’s parents. The bride’s parents and other relatives were left awaiting the arrival of “Barat”. But to their shock of a life, the “Barat” did not reach the lawn at all.
The rattled bride, left with no choice, approached the Jaripatka police with her parents, and other near and dear ones. The police, after recording the statements of both the sides till late in night, called them to police station in the morning of Saturday. The police station turned into a sort of marriage hall as great number relatives, friends and others had gathered the police station who, must have not gone through the experience of such type of episode previously.
According to police, the “interesting” episode took its own course from May 27 when the bridegroom Anand did not return home when he went out for distribution of wedding invitation cards. The parents and other relatives of Anand lodged a missing complaint with Jaripatka police. Police, too, registered an offence of a missing person. According to sources, Anand’s parents had informed the bride and parents about Anand’s missing. However, the bride’s brother charged Anand’s parents and other relatives that they never informed again about the missing of Anand and other related marriage matters. On the other hand, Anand’s parents and other kith and kin feigning innocence said that how could marriage take place when bridegroom himself was missing.
However, the bride and her relatives accused Anand’s parents and other relatives of cheating them in a well-planned way on dowry issue. The poilce acting on a complaint from the bride and her parents booked Anand Bagde, Jagdas Bagde, and Latika Bagde under cheating case. PSI of Jaripatka Police Station Parchake is investigating the matter further from all angles.
