Nagpur: An aged man who was crossing the road near Navnit Car Showroom on Amravati Road was knocked dead by rashly driven Scooty moped on Wednesday. The accused rider of moped has been arrested.
According to police, the deceased, Gulabrao Natthuji Gaurkhede (80), resident of Plot No. 71, near Dabha Government Press, was crossing the road near Navnit Car Showroom situated on Amravati Road around 11.30 am on Wednesday. At the same time, the recklessly driven Scooty moped (MH-40/R 4476) hit Gulabrao with great force. As a result, he received critical injuries and died on the spot.
Wadi PSI Ingole, based on a plaint filed by Jeevan Gulabrao Gaurkhede (47), booked the unidentified moped rider under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and placed him under arrest.
