ACB nabs Sarpanch while taking Rs 5000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Nagpur Police has trapped and nabbed a Sarpanch while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 red handed.

According to ACB, the complainant Nagsen Shankarrao Shendre (48), native of Satgaon Kinhala, now residing in Chandramani Nagar, Nagpur and a tailor by profession, said that a plot of land numbering 991(A), Ward No 4 in Satgaon and admeasuring 1510.25 square feet belonged to his late wife. The complainant  Nagsen Shankarrao Shendre said, he formally submitted an application for mutation of the said plot of land in his name to Gram Panchayat Satgaon Vena on 17.09.2013 and also paid Rs 325 towards tax via receipt number 379 for the purpose.

The complainant Shendre, after some days went to Gram Panchayat Office in connection with the mutation of the said plot of land in his name. When Shendre met the Sarpanch Shalikrao Mohitkar, the Sarpanch demanded Rs 5000 from Shendre for handing over the mutation documents to him.

However, Shendre lodged a complaint with the ACB and narrated the entire episode the sleuths. The ACB, acting on Shendre’s complaint, laid a trap and nabbed the Sarpanch Shalikrao Mohitkar red handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant Shendre.

The successful operation was carried out by Police Inspector Pratap Ingle, Ashok Sakharkar, Vilas Khanke, Police Constables Subhash Tanodkar, Santosh Pundkar, Pramila Gaekwad, Chandrashekhar Dhok, and driver Rajesh Tiwari under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner/Superintendent of Police Nishit Mishra and Additional Superintendent of Police H R Reddiwar.
