A tale of an ox!

It has seen three generations of Vanjari family dressing up for Tanha Pola. It has been with the children every year for collection of money. It has heard them giggling, it has seen them running. It has been in the family for 68 years now.

The wooden ox of the family was carved by Domaji Vanjari in 1949 and has been a part of family’s Pola celebration since then. Dr. Gopal Vanjari, a member of the third generation of the family gave this information. He also informed that the ox was used by his father then by him and his brothers. Likewise, now it is being used by his children.

Although, the wooden ox carved by parents for their children are possesses by them for a decade or so, the Vanjari family has considered this as their family’s heritage.
