Nagpur: Panchpaoli Police rescued nine cattle during a raid on an alleged illegal cattle confinement in Nagpur and seized property worth ₹2.30 lakh. A case has been registered under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, while efforts are underway to trace the accused.
According to police, the action followed a tip-off received during a patrol on Sunday morning that cattle were being illegally confined at a house in Bande Nawaz Nagar near Itbhatti Chowk. Acting on the information, officers raided the premises allegedly belonging to Sheikh Naseem Sheikh Hakim Qureshi.

During the search, police found nine cattle confined in a cramped space without adequate food or water. Based on the initial findings, investigators suspected that the animals were allegedly being kept for illegal slaughter. The cattle were rescued and shifted safely to a cow protection shelter.
Police seized the rescued cattle and other property valued at ₹2.30 lakh. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The accused is currently absconding, and further investigation is in progress.
