800-kg Nandi Becomes Special Attraction at Nagpur’s Shravan Festival

Nagpur: A resolution to create 9.1 million clay Shiva lingas has been undertaken at the third Shravan Festival organised at the ancient Shiva temple in Mankapur by the Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association, under the coordination of former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari visited the festival with his wife, Kanchan Gadkari. He participated in making clay Shiva lingas and also joined the worship and aarti.

Mayor Neeta Thackeray, Nagpur Municipal Corporation Standing Committee chairperson Shivani Dani, former MLAs Girish Vyas and Sandeep Joshi, corporator Darshani Dhawad, Suresh Jagyasi and other dignitaries were present.

Gadkari Praises the Organisation

Gadkari praised the organisation of the Shravan Festival. He said, “Many initiatives are launched in the city, but they stop after one or two years. By Lord Shiva’s grace, Dayashankar Tiwari’s initiative has reached its third year.”

He said the target in the first year was to make 5.1 million clay Shiva lingas. This year, the target has risen to 9.1 million and was completed on Monday, he said. Gadkari also expressed confidence that the number would reach 10 million by September 12.

Gadkari said it was not easy to conduct such an initiative continuously and smoothly for an entire month. He praised Dayashankar Tiwari, the office-bearers of the Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association and all organisations involved in the event.

Gadkari extended greetings to everyone on the holy month of Shravan and Bail Pola. He also conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Hartalika and Ganesh festivals and wished happiness and prosperity in the lives of the workers associated with the event.

Devotees Gather to See the 800-kg Nandi

On the occasion of Bail Pola, an 800-kilogram Nandi from the cowshed of renowned cow protector Atul Mashru was brought to the venue for the entire day. Devotees had the opportunity to see and worship the Nandi in person. The Nandi’s darshan and worship became the special attraction of the day’s programme.

More Than 107,000 Clay Shiva Lingas Made in One Day

A total of 107,585 clay Shiva lingas were made during the festival on the day. The morning abhishek was performed by Anil Bavangad, Rajni Bavangad, Aastha Pranay Parmar and Manisha Rajesh Parmar. The evening abhishek was performed by Dashrath Sahu, Santosh Sahu and Omprakash Wankhede.

Vipul Mishra, Vikram Khurana, Bunty Dixit, Sunil Agrawal, Naveen Jain, Chandu Mate, Manoj Singh, Shashikant Harde, Naveen Gupta, Sonu Tiwari, Aniruddha Tiwari, Pawan Tiwari, Rani Reddy, Seema Kashyap and Rekha Vande, along with office-bearers and workers, are working for the successful organisation of the Shravan Festival.
