Nagpur: A 76-year old man lost his life when the scooter he was riding was hit by an Activa, rashly driven by an 18-year old boy, near Model Mill Square in Ganeshpeth on Monday. The Activa driver has been arrested.
According to police, the deceased Gopal Mahadevrao Latare (76), resident of Sakkardara, Nagpur, was going toward Ganeshpeth area on his Pleasure scooter (MH-31/CW 7544) around 2 pm on Monday. When Gopal reached near Model Mill Square, the speeding Activa (MH-49/T 8901), driven by the accused Prateek Rajendra Bade (18), resident of Plot No. 205, Dighori, Aradhana Nagar, crashed into his scooter with forceful impact. The dash left the aged Gopal with critical injuries and was rushed to Metrocty Hospital. However, Gopal died around 7 pm on the same day while undergoing treatment.
Ganeshpeth API Kendre, based on complaint filed by Dinesh Gopal Latare (50), registered an offence under Sections 279, 337, 304(A) of the IPC and arrested the accused Activa rider Prateek Bade.
