7 natural water-tanks, more than 100 artificial tanks ready for Ganesh Visarjan

Voluntary organisations to offer services

Nagpur: As many as 7 water-tanks in the city as well as in its outskirts have been made ready for Shri Ganesh idol immersion (visarjan) where various voluntary organisations will assist in immersion process and also take care of saving the natural water-tanks from pollution by flowers, garlands and other material used for worship. For this purpose, though more than 100 artificial water-tanks have been provided by Nagpur Municipal Corporation at various places, the craze of devotees for idol immersion in natural water resources have been kept in view, said NMC health deputy director Dr Milind Ganvir, who will also be supervising the functioning of voluntary organisation workers.

The details of 7 water-tanks and their preparedness for immersion are as follows:
**Futala Talab: Volunteers of Green Vigil, Air Force and Rotary Club, Amravati Road will posted for offering their services.
**Gandhi Sagar Talab: Volunteers of Khadi Gramudyog, Rotary Club, Nisarg Vigyan and Yog Sampada  will be available for service.
**Naik Talab: Volunteers of Hast-shilpi Seva Sahaari Sanstha will be available for their service.
**Ambazari Overflow: Volunteers of Vriksha Samvardhan and Nisarg Vigyan Sanstha will be available.
**Sonegaon Talab: Volunteers of Vriksha Samvardhan, Rotary Club and Nisarg Vigyan Sanstha will be available over there.
**Sanjay Gandhi Talab, Khadan: Volunteers of Nisarg Vigyan will be available.
**Gorewada Talab: Volunteers of Rotary Club will be available.

In an appeal to the citizens, Mayor Pravin Datke said that all citizens should cooperate in ensuring the idol immersion pollution free. According to him, more than 100 artificial water tanks have been provided for idol immersion, like every year in the past.
It mat be mentioned that NMC health deputy director Dr Ganvir held a meeting of various volunteers and assigned them their tank-wise jurisdictions of their function. Those who attended the meeting included Koustubh Chatterjee, Vijay Ghuge, R B Deshpande, Raj Shah, Dinesh Naidu, Prashant Pattiwar, Baba Shende, Prashant Rajurkar, Aradhya Pande, Kamlesh Sharma, Sudhir Fating and others.
