6th Annual Cultural Fiesta- Shikhar-2013 held at Guru Nanak Institutions, Nagpur

Nagpur News: Guru Nanak Institutions, Nagpur celebrated its 6th Annual Cultural Fiesta- Shikhar-2013 recently.

It was a week-long event which started with Sport and continued with cultural fest. Students presented their pool of talent by participating in Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Throw ball, Kho-Kho, Chess, Table Tennis, etc which then continued with a series of activities like Flash Mob, Poster presentation, LAN Gaming,Quiz, Face Painting, Nukkad, Photography, Treasure Hunt, One Minute Show and many more. The chief guest for the cultural fest was Sunil Kedar (MLA). The other guests of honor were Narendra Palatkar, J P Gupta (president Nagpur Congress Committee), Mohabbat Singh Tuli (chairman Tuli group of Hotels), Sardar Navneet Singh Tuli (CMD GNI), Tanpreet Kaur Tuli (MD GNI), Prof Sanjeev Shrivastava (CEO GNI), Dr NVDeshpande (principal,GNIET) and Dr N MKanhe (principal GNIEM) graced the cultural fest. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by all the guests along with traditional prayers.

Fashion shows on different themes added to the fervor of the evening with an amazing enthusiasm and zeal accompanied with loud applause. The dynamic pulsating Bhangra gave a gripping and captivating moments to one and all. The whole show was a wonderful fusion of eastern and western cultures by a harmonious blend of music rhythm and dance.

On the valedictory function, the guests were Prashant Vaidya (ex cricketer Team India), Dr Vinky Rughwani (chairman Sindhi Hindi Vidhyalaya), Puneet Mahajan (ex general secretary, Butibori Industrial Association), Gurbax Singh Lamba and Atul Kotecha. Around 75 students including university toppers were given cash prizes and certificates and medals for their academic excellence. Total 600 certificates, 530 medals, 40 trophies and 16 shields were given for sports and cultural event.

Dr NVDeshpande and Dr NMKanhe presented the academic reports tracing the progress made in the last years. Sardar Navneet Singh Tuli addressed the gathering with his views about the progress GNI and brought more clarity on its futuristic vision.
