Nagpur: Dhantoli police have launched a manhunt to nab four goons who posed themselves as officials of District Collectorate as well as High Court and created ruckus at two renowned hospitals on the pretext of inspecting complaints regarding implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana. The motive of the goons apparently was to blackmail the doctors and extort money.

According to police, the complainant Mohd Asif Quereshi Akeel Mohd Quereshi on behalf of Dhantoli-based Crescent Hospital and Heart Centre told police that the accused Mohammed Shahid Sharif (40), resident of Lokadhikar Annex Building, near Bhide School, Dhantoli and his three accomplices came to the Hospital around 3.15 pm on September 12, 2016 and posed themselves as officials of District Collectorate. The accused told the doctors that they have come to investigate the complaints of patients that the hospital is charging excess charges to patients being treated as beneficiaries of Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana. With these bogus words, the accused sought information of the patients being treated under the scheme. Later they forcibly entered rooms of patients, ICU Wards and pressured the patients and their relatives to give them information. The acts of the accused goons created hurdles in the working of doctors and also terrorized the patients and their relatives.

Similarly, the key accused Mohammed Shahid Sharif visited Shrikrishna Hrudayalaya and Critical Care Centre, Congress Nagar around 3.30 pm on September 20, 2016 and this time posed himself as official of High Court. The accused told the doctors that he has come to the hospital on the orders of High Court to investigate the complaints of patients being treated as beneficiaries of Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana. He repeated the same actions like he did in the Crescent Hospital and Heart Centre.

Acting on the complaints lodged by Mohd Asif Quereshi Akeel Mohd Quereshi on behalf of Dhantoli-based Crescent Hospital and Heart Centre and Sagar Subhash Bagde of Shrikrishna Hrudayalaya and Critical Care Centre, Dhantoli police booked the key accused Mohammed Shahid Sharif and his three accomplices under Sections 170, 34 of the IPC read with Sub-Sections 3, 4 of Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act, 2010 and launched a hunt to nab them.
