36 Cyclists Ride 300km

In an historic turnout, 36 cyclists participated in a 300km BRM organized by Nagpur Randonneurs on Sunday.
The participants included, apart from Nagpur, riders from Bangalore, Jabalpur, Amravati, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Warud and Mauda.

The brevet, which started at Zero Mile at 5.30 am, went to Chandrapur.

The historic high number of participants, which included 5 women, is an indication of the growing popularity of randonneuring as an endurance sport in Vidarbha.

Of the 37 riders who registered for the event, 36 started and all were able to finish the ride well within the allotted time of 20 hours.

The finishers included couples Swati and Ajay Kulkarni and Amita and Shriram Deshpande (Amravati), woman cyclists Radha Raja and Anjali Deshmukh of Amravati and Anne Wilkinson of Nagpur, Sunil Junghare, Abdul Abid Qureshi and Piyush Kotkar of Chandrapur, Atul Kalamkar of Amravati, Chetan Ghorpade of Bangalore, Aditya Upase, Piyush Khandelwal, Aditya Lokhande and Parag Bhonde of Warud, Mousam Palewar of Jabalpur, Liladhar Thaokar and Prashant Chandankhede of Mauda, Liyakat Hussain of Yavatmal, Narendra Pahade, Ashish Choudhari, Pradeep Yadav, Anand Kalchuri, Aniket Jha, Malinath Koli, Saurabh Sathe, Mayank Gupta, Anurag Kumar, Ravindra Pandhare, Tanmay Parkhi, Dharmapal Fulzele, Ramanprakash Naktode, Devesh Tiwari, Dheeraj Mahadik and Bhushan Vaswani.

Yogesh Dapurkar, Aniruddha Kulkarni and Mangesh Pahade provided volunteer support at the start and end points, while Vikas Patra and Amol Ramteke manned the entire brevet route.

SANTA CYCLE RIDE THIS CHRISTMAS
Nagpur Randonneurs has organized a unique 100km ride this Christmas in which participants will be served Christmas delicacies by volunteers dressed as Santa Claus.

Volunteers at all checkpoints during the ride, which will go up to Umari along Pandhurna Road, will be in Santa costumes and will serve cakes and puddings.

At the end point, Santa will pluck medals from a Christmas tree and hand these over to finishers. Even the certificates will be full of Christmas decoration.
