Nagpur: After an ‘uneasy lull’, bike-borne goons went on chain-snatching spree in Gittikhadan and Pratap Nagar areas on Sunday. Three women were robbed of their gold booty and other valuables collectively worth Rs 86,000.

In the first incident, a resident of Plot No. 101, Creative Home-2, Aakar Nagar in Gittikhadan police jurisdiction, Sandhya Rahul Pande (36), was standing near Santosh Kirana Shop in Aakar Nagar around 8 pm on Sunday. Suddenly, an unidentified goon riding Honda Splendour motorcycle came near Sandhya and snatched her gold chain and locket she was wearing worth Rs 50,000. Even before Sandhya could raise an alarm, the chain-snatcher speeded away.

Gittikhadan PSI S L Wakde registered a case under Section 392 of the IPC and searching for him.

Similarly, Kalpana Ravindra Meshram (48), resident of Plot No. 113, Jai Vighnaharta Apartment, Fire Engineering Road, was taking a stroll along with her husband around 8.30 pm on Sunday. After the walk, the couple was returning home. As they reached near Netaji Salon, Katol Road in Gittikhadan area, an unidentified miscreant riding Honda Splendour snatched gold chain worth Rs 30,000 Kalpana was wearing and fled the spot.

The chain-snatcher, it is suspected, could be the same who had earlier robbed Sandhya Pande in Gittikhadan area.

Police constable Bhojraj registered an offence under Section 392 and launched a search to nab the accused.

In the third incident reported in Pratap Nagar police jurisdiction, a handbag containing cash Rs 2500 and mobile phone worth Rs 4000 was snatched by an unidentified moped rider on Sunday night. A resident of 97, Shri Apartment, Pande Layout, Khamla, Anita Anil Muley (65) was returning home along with her granddaughter walking after visiting her sister’s house. Midway, as Anita reached near Vasudeo Daily Needs shop, the unidentified goon riding a white moped snatched her handbag containing cash and mobile phone worth Rs 6500 and fled.
