215 killed as blasts rock Sri Lanka on Easter

Three Indians are among 215 killed in brutal Sri Lankan bombing on Easter Sunday that shook the island country. More than 500 have been injured after 8 powerful blasts rock the nation targeting churches, 5-star hotels, guest houses on Sunday.

External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj informed, “Indian High Commission in Colombo has conveyed that National Hospital has informed them about the death of three Indian nationals. We are ascertaining further details.”

Among other foreign nationals who have lost their lives in Sri Lanka blasts are 3 Britons, two people holding joint US and British citizenship. According to reports, more than 35 foreign nationals have lost their lives in Sunday blasts.

Curfew has been imposed in the country and major social media sites have also been shut down.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister termed this a cowardly act and said that the attackers have been identified who are religious extremists. Sri Lankan authorities have arrested 7 suspects so far.

Meanwhile, no terror organisation has taken the responsibility for the attack.
