2 goons demand extortion money of Rs 20000 from NMC employee at knife point, booked

Lakadganj police have booked two persons on the charges of demanding extortion money from an NMC employee at the point of knife and also threatening him to kill if their demand is not met. Both the accused are since then absconding and police have launched a search to nab them.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Dheeraj Malik and Namo Meshram. On Tuesday, at about 11 am, both Dheeraj and Namo barged into NMC’s Zone-8 Office and confronted the employee Rahul Ravi Ramteke (27), resident of Plot No. 1, Vathoda Layout, Vidya Nagar, Nagpur. The accused first abused Rahul with choicest words and then demanded extortion money of Rs 20,000 from him by saying the threatening words “Tu Gangabai Ghat ke paise kyu nahi de raha hai. Chal abhi ke abhi paise nikal nahi to hamare pas chaku hai. Chakuse abhi tapka denge” (Why are you not paying Gangabai Ghat’s Rs 20,000. Give it now or we will kill you with our knife that is in our possession). However, both Dheeraj and Namo left the spot hastily when Rahul refused to part with the extortion money and stood his ground.

Lakadganj PSI Analdas, acting on the complaint lodged by Rahul Ramteke, has booked both Dheeraj Malik and Namo Meshram under Sections 393, 384, 353, 34 of the IPC and is searching for the absconding accused.
