Nagpur: The 18th Chhatrapati Shivaji Cup State-level Kabaddi Tournament 2016 will be organised from March 17 to 20 in city. The contest, organised on the aspices of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Sports and Youth Services Directorate, Maharashtra State, Pune and Nagpur/Vidarbha Amateurs Kabaddi Association, will be played at Chitnis Park, Mahal.
Nine teams of boys and nine teams of girls from Maharashtra and Maharashtra Kabaddi Association each will be participating in the tournament. Similarly, seven teams of boys and girls each of Vidarbha Amateurs Kabaddi Association will take part. A total of 32 teams including 16 teams of boys and 16 teams of girls will display their kabaddi skills. Ther tournament will be inaugurated by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule at 7 pm on March 17 at Chitnis Park, Mahal.
The lodging and boarding arrangements of around 500 players, team managers and other officials have been made at MLA Hostel, Civil Lines.
The 18th Chhatrapati Shivaji Cup State-level Kabaddi Tournament 2016 will be conducted as per the norms of Federation of India. The winning teams of boys and girls will be presented the roving trophies by State Government.
The concluding funtion on March 20 will be graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State School Education and Sports Minister Vinod Tawde as chief guests. A Committee for overseeing various aspects of the 18th Chhatrapati Shivaji Cup State-level Kabaddi Tournament 2016 has been formed with Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule as its Chairman. The members of the committee are Nisha Savarkar, President of Zilla Parishad, and Vice Chairman of Reception Committee, MLC Girish Vyas, District Collector Sachin Kurve. Chairman of Reception Committee is Mayor Pravin Datke while Treasurer is Subhash Revatkar. Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Services Directorate. Secretary will be Jitendra Thakur of Vidarbha Amateurs Kabaddi Association. The Member-Secretary is Vijay Santan, District Sports Officer.
