17-year-old met with priest before committing suicide

Nagpur News : An eleventh science student, Supriya Sontakke committed suicide by consuming poison at her residence at Mahadulla in Koradi police station area on Tuesday afternoon.

Before taking the extreme step, Supriya, 17-year-old, had met a religious priest to know regarding her future. Her parents described her as a hardworking and a bright student.

Supriya’s father Namdeo works with a painting contractor while her mother is a homemaker. She was eldest of three siblings-a brother and sister.

Police said that no suicide note was found from the house. However, it has been learnt that she was dejected as her parents were not able to afford her education fees.

“After her college, she had gone to meet to a priest whom she told that she wanted to study further. She also shared that she is planning to shift other city for her studies. However, after coming back home she consumed poison,” said police.

Police said that economical condition of her family was poor which would always come as a barrier in her education.
