13 people booked from two families over an argument over crackers

Nagpur News: Argument over crackers on Diwali festival led to a serious brawl between two families resulting in tension at the Indira Nagar in Jatatrodi area in Imambada.

In the tussle, a 28-year-old woman’s left hand was fractured and a youth from opposite family was assaulted.

Police registered two cases on counter complaints of both the families.

The first complaint was lodged by Rita Lawrence, who stays at Indira Nagar. She claimed that she was walking to her mother’s house to give her sweets when the neighbouring family, Suraj Mishra and his brothers and cousins started bursting crackers. When Rita scolded for it, the youths picked an argument and hit an iron rod on her hand. They even threw her cell phone.

On hearing Rita’s scream for help, her family thrashed Mishra and attacked him. On Rita’s complaint, police has booked four people while on Mishra’s complaint, nine people were booked.
