Nagpur News : Our generation has its fair share of pure luck when it comes to witnessing the historical dates like 01.01.01, 02.02.02, 03.03.03, 04.04.04, 05.05.05, 06.06.06, 07.07.07, 08.08.08, 09.09.09, 10.10.10, 11.11.11 and lastly 12.12.12.

While the experts state nothing specific about the dates, the market is gung ho about the event, all set to cash in the ‘opportunity’, which would repeat itself only after 100 years. Another statement doing the round is that the Earth would eventually come to an end on this day.

Going by the high curiosity levels of Nagpurians for 12.12.12, the numerologists, jewellers and even the gynaecology centers have linked the event with the fortune. Perhaps for this reason most of the expecting mothers have specifically pre-booked their dates of surgeries matching this particular day. Even the gynaecologists in Nagpur are indirectly promoting the date as good omen, as more enquiries pour in. A gynaecologist at Dhantoli, who wish not be named, informed that the expecting mothers at their peak delivery time have been crazily inquiring about the possibility of delivering on this date. “We may not advise those willing to go under the knife when the baby is premature but those crossed good nine months are being entertained for the same.”

On the contrary the Education Officer at Raman Science Center Vilas Choudhary steered clear of any celestial mystery behind this date. He said that the rotation and revolution are normal course of the Earth and this date is the result of Earth’s routine cycle and purely normal in the astronomical progression.

While most of the numerologists are taking this date to their strides to cash in, the Professor of Astrology and Vaastu Science at Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Krishna Kumar Pandey said that the date of 12.12.12 is just a normal incidence which is in no way related to Indian system of astrology.

While the Maya Calendar claims that 12.12.12 is the date of final destruction when the Earth would meet its end, the rumour has added to the anxiety of the citizens. Professor Pandey rubbished this off citing the Indian astrology that we are living in ‘kalyug’, the life cycle of which is estimated to be about 4 lakh and 32 thousand years. Only 5000 years have been completed as yet and the destruction can only be thought of after the remaining 4 lakh and 27 thousand years are over. While natural calamities like holocaust and earthquake during these years are likely but as far this date is concerned, there is nothing specific, good or bad, about it.

Renowned gynaecologist Dr. Lakshmi Shrikhande said that a never before craze is seen among the expecting mothers belonging to the sound financial and educational background in the city. Most of these pregnant ladies are excited to give birth to their offsprings on 12.12.12 but only those can safely go for surgery who have completed nine months of conceiving.
