Nagpur: Jayee and her sister Juhi had been rescued from the forest near Chandrapur when they were little cubs separated from their mother. This was almost a decade ago.
Yesterday, one of them named Jayee, died at the Maharaj bagh zoo where they had been living since their rescue.
The Veternary doctors attending on the tigress said that she has been ill since the last 6 months. She was bitten by a snake and she was also suffering from kidney disease.
It had seemed some days ago that she had ‘come out of the woods’ and was out of danger now. Her health was improving rapidly.
But 3 days ago, she took ill again and stopped eating. Despite the best efforts of Dr. Sunil Bawaskar and team she passed away.
Sadly, her sister Juhi had died in November last year. Since then Jayee had been the major attraction at the very old Nagpur zoo Maharaj Bagh.
Now, she too is no more.
