ZP properties to be developed for commercial purposes

Nagpur: Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed the officers of Rural Development Department to identify prime properties, owned by the Zilla Parishad (ZP), and develop them commercially on BOT basis to increase the revenues of the ZP.

Addressing a meeting, Bawankule said that the ZP needed to raise funds for several development works under its jurisdiction. There were many road-side properties owned by the ZP in rural areas also. Commercial complexes could be constructed on these plot and be allotted to women self-help groups and small scale industries. It would generate revenues for the ZP, Bawankule observed.

The areas in Ajni, Sai Mandir, Badkas Chowk Mahal, Raipur (Hingna), Zingabai Takli and Sarpanch Bhavan could be developed on BOT basis. The minister directed officers concerned to send proposals in this regard to the State government.

The meeting was also attended by the department’s Secretary Aseem Gupta, CEO of Nagpur ZP Sanjay Yadav and other officers. The meeting also discussed the ZP proposals pending with the State government. It was also directed to fill vacant posts in departments of General Administration, Finance, Irrigation, Public Works, Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Health, Education, Agriculture, Women and Child Welfare and other departments so that backlog of works could be ended.
