
Nagpur: Three persons were arrested within hours after a violent assault and attempted murder case was registered under the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar Police Station in Nagpur.
According to police, complainant Mustaq Khan Karim Khan, aged 23 and a resident of Kalamna Basti in Mansi Layout, knew the accused personally. The attack allegedly took place between 1.30 pm and 2 pm on May 13 near the railway crossing at Wanjra Layout, MHADA Quarters, Bilal Nagar, near Pili River in Yashodhara Nagar area.
Police said the accused were identified as Mohammad Faizan Mohammad Afzal Ansari (26), resident of Bilal Nagar MHADA Quarters; Taufiq Khan alias Babu Nasir Khan (18), resident near Ira School, Parvati Nagar, Kalamna; Mohammad Arbaz Mohammad Subhan Ansari (18), resident of Majri area; and another accused identified as Shoaib alias Lala.
Police said the accused allegedly attacked Mustaq Khan and his brother Mustakin Khan Karim Khan following an old dispute. During the assault, the accused allegedly beat up both brothers, while Shoaib alias Lala allegedly attacked Mustakin Khan with a knife with an intention to kill him.
The victim sustained serious injuries on the head, chin, nose and neck and was admitted to the Trauma Centre of Government Medical College and Hospital Nagpur for treatment.
Based on the complaint, Yashodhara Nagar police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During the investigation, officials and personnel of Crime Branch Unit 5 launched a search operation and succeeded in detaining accused numbers one to three within three hours of the offence. They were later handed over to Yashodhara Nagar police for further action.
Police are continuing the search for the absconding accused Shoaib alias Lala, while further investigation is underway.
