Nagpur: A violent attack triggered by suspicion of an alleged love affair has left a young man critically injured in the Kalamna Market area, exposing yet another instance of escalating personal disputes turning into brutal crime.
According to police sources, the accused, identified as Tikesh and his associate Abhishek, are known offenders with prior criminal records, including theft cases for which they have previously served jail time.
Investigations reveal that Tikesh harboured suspicion about an alleged relationship between his wife and his former friend Mayur Borkar, leading to a prolonged dispute between the two.
On the night of April 26, Mayur reportedly called Tikesh to Kalamna Market for a discussion. Tikesh arrived at the spot with Abhishek, while Mayur was accompanied by his friend Sheikh Ayan.
What began as a confrontation quickly spiralled out of control. In a sudden and violent escalation, Tikesh and Abhishek allegedly attacked Mayur with a knife. Mayur managed to evade the assault, but the accused then turned on Ayan, overpowering him and stabbing him multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
The injured youth collapsed on the spot as the attackers fled, leaving him critically wounded. Panic gripped the area following the attack, and locals rushed Ayan to a nearby hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Kalamna Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and launched a manhunt to trace the absconding accused. Officials stated that further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident once again underscores how personal enmity and suspicion can erupt into savage violence, posing a serious threat to public safety.
