MIDC police have booked a youth on the charges of raping a girl by promising marriage with her.
According to police, the complainant, a 21-year old girl alleged repeated rape by the man from November 2011 to May 21. The girl told police that she was in love with the accused Mangesh Ramesh Junghare, a resident of Jaitala. Mangesh often doled out promise to marry the girl and subsequently raped her on various occasions. However, the accused started avoiding the girl every time she talked of marriage, The girl soon realized that the marriage promise was a fake one and thus she lodged a complaint with MIDC police on Wednesday.
Cops have registered an offence under Sections 376 and 417 of the IPC against the accused. Further investigations are under way.
