Nagpur: A friendly outing turned fatal for 18-year-old Rajesh Manghate, who drowned in Zilpi Lake, Mohgaon, on Thursday morning. The incident was reported under Wathoda Police Station.

According to police sources, Rajesh, along with his friends, had gone to Zilpi Lake to enjoy the holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. They all decided to take a bath to beat the heat. However, Rajesh suddenly slipped into the lake and drowned. His friends made efforts to rescue him, but it was in vain.

They subsequently alerted the locals and the cops. Acting swiftly on the input, the cops rushed to the spot. The body of the deceased was fished out from the lake.

A case of accidental death was registered. Further investigation is ongoing.
