Youth dupes jobless youths with Rs 22 lakh

Lakadganj police have arrested a man on the charges of cheating a number of youths to the tune of over Rs 22 lakh by doling out bogus promise of jobs to them.

According to police, Rahul Ramdas Dhopte (28) first trapped Sudarshan Manohar Barapatre by telling him that he has strong political connections and higher reach in Government and he could help his brothers get job as Food Inspector and Account Officer. Rahul then took Rs 5.24 lakh from Sudarshan from time to time between 2012 and 2013. But the accused Rahul Dhopte started avoiding whenever Sudarshan talked about the job to his brothers. Similarly, it was revealed that Rahul duped several other youths like Sudarshan to the tune of Rs 17 lakh, a collective bounty of over Rs 22 lakh.

On the basis of Sudarshan’s complaint, Lakadganj police have registered an offence under Sections 420 and 406 against Rahul and took him into custody.
