Nagpur:
Taking a dig of sorts at the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, activists of Youth Congress undertook a cleanliness drive in garbage-riddled Prabhag 18 that mainly comprise RSS Headquarters, birth place of founder of the organisation K B Hedgewar, residence of Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, residence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, office of City BJP et al.

“Considered as ‘VVIP’ area, the expected cleanliness was far from expectation. A nallah passing through the area has turned out to be breeding ground for mosquitoes, and other species of bacteria and germs due to filth and contaminated water and thus posed hazards to the people’s lives. Several elected Corporators from this Prabhag had occupied important posts such as Mayor, Chairmen of Standing Committee but they had never shown ‘vision’ for making the area clean and beautiful. In a way they mocked at the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” the Youth Congress lamented while undertaking a cleanliness drive.

The Swachhata shramdaan was undertaken under the leadership of newly-elected Corporator from the Prabhag Bunty Shelke, who is also President of City Youth Congress. Others who participated in the task include National Secretary of Youth Congress and State In-Charge Pratibha Raghuvanshi, Joint In-Charge Amit Yadav, Ramtek Loksabha President Anil Rai, city General Secretary Alok Kondapurwar, and dozens of other activists.
