Youth attacked in Lakadganj area, succumbs to injuries in hospital

Nagpur News: A youth, who was attacked in Lakadganj area on Tuesday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on Wednesday morning. Police said, the deceased Sumit alias Chintu Srivas (24), a resident of Kawrapeth, Ramsumer Baba Nagar, was attacked with sharp weapons by a group of youths on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said, Sumit had an argument with the accused Mangesh Benekar over an accident when Benekar’s bike hit Sumit’s bike. Sumit slapped Mangesh over this issue. Mangesh held a grudge against Sumit and gathered a group of youths to teach Sumit a lesson for his mistake. Mangesh Benekar along with his brother Ankush Benekar, Deepak Dhoble, Nihal Choudhary, Prabhakar Benekar, Nilesh Kumbhare and another group of 4-5 goons who came in a Maruti car (MH 31 CM 956) attacked Sumit on Tuesday afternoon at around 1 pm. They left Sumit in a pool of blood suspecting him to be dead.

On being informed, Lakadganj police reached the spot and sent Sumit for treatment in a private hospital. Sumit succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.

On the complaint of Rakesh Chokhelal Srivas (27), brother of the deceased, cops had earlier registered an offence under Sections 143, 147, 148, 149 and 307 for attempt to murder against the accused. Now, cops have registered a case of murder against the culprits.

Police have started search for the accused and are further investigating the case.
