Youth abducted, bruised in Kalmeshwar forests near Nagpur; One arrested, rest absconding

A youth was picked up from Hazaripahad area in Nagpur and taken to nearby Kalmeshwar jungle where he was beaten black and blue by the abductors. Gittikhadan police have arrested one accused while the rest are absconding. The arrested accused Sumit Thakur is said to be having criminal record and has been booked in many cases in the past. An old rivalry was said to be the reason behind the incident.

The victim Rahul Salame, 23, resident of Hazaripahad in Gittikhadan area was allegedly interrupted by Sumit, 26, of Prerna Colony in Akar Nagar. Sumit was accompanied by few other youths namely Zunaid, Nazim, Ganesh Chacherkar alias Ghui and five other people. All the accused pushed Rahul into a red colored Swift car and sped away. One more white colored jeep was also used in the crime.

All of them took Rahul to a nearby forest and attacked him brutally with bicycle chain, cable wire and canes. They kept threatening Rahul while beating him continuously.  Assuming him dead, all the accused then fled the spot, leaving him in the bushes.

As Rahul regained consciousness, he managed to reach Gittikhadan police station where he narrated the entire incident.

The police have registered case against Sumit Thakur and his other gang members. Hunt for other accused was on.
