A young lawyer, who ordered a cell phone for gifting it to his sister on Rakshabandhan day, received a cement stone instead from e-retailer Snapdeal. Not only the advocate was left red faced but put to loss of over Rs 9000 due to the dubious deal.

The complainant, Adv Ankur Ramakant Kaple (25), resident of Plot No. 23, Abhyankar Nagar, on August 9 ordered online a HTC Desire mobile phone worth Rs 9245 from the e-retailer Snapdeal. Ankur planned to gift the cell phone to his sister on Rakshabandhan day. Subsequent to the order, Adv Kaple received phone calls from Kunal Bhai, Chief Executive Officer, Snapdeal Head Office, Delhi, Regional Manager, Mumbai, Distributor BS, Ahmedabad, Chief Executive Officer Amit Shah of Pune and Express Courier Manager, Mohan Nagar, Nagpur and told him that an agent of the courier company is delivering the parcel soon and keep the order amount ready. Accordingly, the courier company agent reached the house of Adv Kaple and delivered a sealed parcel having written as ‘Express Delivery” in English. Ankur took the delivery and gave Rs 9245 to the courier agent. However, when the young lawyer opened the parcel, he was shocked to find a piece of cement stone instead of the ordered cell phone. He immediately looked for the courier agent but he was gone. The dejected Ankur approached Ambazari police and registered a case in this connection.
