Nagpur: An alert citizen and swift action by MIDC police foiled a dacoity plan with the arrest of four gang members who were planning to strike in Electronic Zone, Hingna Road on Monday night. However, one of the members managed to escape the police net and is now subject of a massive hunt. Lethal arms and other material to be used in the dacoity have been seized from the possession of arrested gang members.
The breakthrough came when the API Shivurkar was on duty at the MIDC Police Station on Monday night. Around 10 pm, he received a call from a citizen informing that a gang of 5-6 suspicious persons had assembled at a dark spot in Electronic Zone, opposite a chemical factory. Noticing the cops, the gang members tried to flee but were apprehended. However, one of the members of the gang managed to escape the police net in the cover of darkness. Upon frisking, the cops recovered arms and other material likely to be used in the dacoity the arrested accused were planning.
