Young couple commits suicide in a suicide pact


Nagpur: In what could be termed as unfortunate, a young couple commits suicide in Telankhedi Lake or Futala Lake late in the afternoon at around 3:30 pm on November 19, 2016.

The deceased boy is identified as Nitin Maundekar aged 22 years and a resident of Naik Talab, and the deceased girl is identified as Aishwarya Talwale aged 20 years and a resident of Tandapeth.

According to sources, the couple had come together with some friends and soon some argument ensued. The couple is said to be having an affair and when all doors of their living together in peace appeared to be closed, the couple had entered into a suicide pact and committed suicide in Futala Lake late in the afternoon on November 19, 2016.

Immediately after the couple jumped into the lake, other on-lookers immediately called the cops and informed them about the couple jumping into the lake. The cops immediately rushed to the spot and had pressed the services of swimmers and divers to either try to save them or try to retrieve their bodies.

couple-suicide-futalaBy then a huge crowd of inquisitive on-lookers had gathered in the bank of the lake. After one hour of intensive search, the divers managed to fish out the couple.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-II) Kalasagar and other cops came to the spot. While speaking to media personnel, he said that they have initiated an investigation in the matter. According to some sources, the deceased Nitin Maundekar had called his friend Abhishek and had told him that he is going to commit suicide in another 10 minutes. His friend had rushed to the lake, but by that time, Nitin had already jumped into the lake.

Reliable sources also told that Nitin Maundekar is a final year student of Kamla Nehru College. Both the families knew about their affair. The cops have acquired the mobile phone of the deceased. The mobile phone may reveal the cause behind the young couple taking the extreme step.

The cops of Ambazhari Police Station have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating further.
