Yet another crackdown on IPL betting in Sitabuldi, 3 arrested

Nagpur: In yet another crackdown on rampant betting session this IPL season, the Crime Branch has busted a cricket betting racket in Sitabuldi and apprehended three bookies. The accused were accepting bets on Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket matches.

Among the accused included Sanjay Marotrao Kharwade (40), a resident of Plot No.97,Renuka Mata Nagar, Hudkeshwar Road; Nikhil Manoj Raut (30), a resident of Plot No. 101, Kalawati Apartment and Ajinkya Ajay Raut (21), a resident of Plot No. 8, Flat No. 101, Hiteshri Heights, Khare town.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and arrested the accusedred handed while accepting bets. Cops have seized five mobile phones, a LED television, Rs 12,000 cash and other material from the spot. The police have registered the case under Sections 4 and5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act.

Under the guidance of DCP Nilesh Bharne and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar, the arrest was made by PI Narendra Hiwre, API Yogesh Choudhary, PSIHS Thorat and staff including Arun Dharme, Vitthal Nasre, Rakesh Yadav, Vikas Pathak, Satyendra Yadav, Dipti Jaiswal and others.
