Yellow alert: IMD forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms in Nagpur, Vidarbha in next 24 hrs

Nagpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday has issued a Yellow alert as heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms are likely to hit Nagpur and many parts of Vidarbha and Maharashtra in the next 24 hours.

The Yellow alert has been issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Gondia, Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Satara districts.

Lightning and thunderstorms would also be experienced with wind blowing at 40-50 kmph in these parts of Maharashtra.

Since the past week, the Vidarbha region has been experiencing untimely and heavy rains. While Vidarbha is dealing with heavy rains, other parts of Maharashtra are experiencing intense heat with rising temperatures.

IMD has advised residents in the affected areas to stay indoors during heavy rains and thunderstorms. Secure outdoor objects that could be blown away by strong winds. Avoid standing under trees or near water bodies during lightning and thunderstorms.
