YCMOU to introduce new innovative schemes in its curriculum: Vice Chancellor Dr Salunkhe

Dr Manikrao Salunkhe, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) on Tuesday (November 4) announced several new initiatives to reach out to its students in more flexible and innovative manner.

Dr Salunkhe was on a day’s visit to Nagpur regional centre. While briefing the media, he highlighted various facilities provided by the YCMOU to the students such as availability of books online for different courses of the Open University, counselling and information of lectures and time-table on mobile phones, quick results and revaluation status available on the official website and complaint centre at the regional office.

He further emphasized on increasing the gross enrollment ratio of students in all the talukas of the region. At present, Nagpur regional office has 240 study centres wherein, this year, around   57000 students have taken admissions in various courses. However, the number is very less as compared to Nasik and Nanded where admissions are above one lakh.  YCMOU has total 6 lakh students pursuing various courses.

The Vice Chancellor Dr Salunkhe has particularly pointed out to increase the student strength in Nagpur Regional Centre to lakh and above and reach out to students in remotest areas.

SC, ST and OBC students to get free of cost admissions:
Students belonging to SC, ST and OBC will be getting free of cost education in YCMOU, said Dr Salunkhe.

Online Syllabus books:
Above 100 courses, syllabus books will be made available on the website of YCMOU. Students can opt for online study material as well as books available with the study centre also.

Study material CDs  for costly courses:
YCMOU is also coming out with study material (books) in CD format. The students pursuing courses which are little costly can use these CDs for studying in their tab, desktop or laptops.
