Nagpur: In a major twist to the ongoing drama on the death sentence to dreaded 1993 Mumbai Serial blast guilty Yakub Memon, it came out that the so called lawyer Shubail Farook who air dashed in Nagpur from Delhi does not even have the valid identification of his credentials as a lawyer. With this new development even the authenticity of Shubail in the capacity of lawyer has come under scanner.
It turned out that the identity card submitted by Farook to the jail authorities expired well 2 years back. The copy of the card in possession with Nagpur Today shows the validity date as January 31, 2003. The card has been shown as issued by Bar Council of Delhi. This clearly shows that Shubail Farook is not authorised to function as lawyer post this date.
The entire episode has also raised the questions over the functioning of jail authorities. Sources informed the Bar Council of Delhi could act against Shubail for committing the glitch and misguiding jail authorities in Nagpur.

Moreover, the mobile number given on the said identitiy card too does not belong to Shubail. When Nagpur Today contacted on this number, it turned out to be of one Pradeep Raja, resident of Rampur in Shimla. The landline number could not be reached.
Sources expressed doubt over the fake number being put by Shubail in his card.
Meanwhile, expressing his resentment over the entire episode, Nagpur District Bar Association President Prakash Jaiswal reacted that if the card running beyond validity was submitted as proof then it was a wrong act on the part of Shubail.
