Nagpur: A 29-year old woman was systematically cheated to the tune of Rs 4.09 lakh by her ‘would-be husband’ in Wadi police jurisdiction.

A resident of Flat No. 103, Wing-A, Sai Srushti Apartment, Lava in Wadi area, Priyanka Shyambihari Gupta (29) in her complaint told police that the accused named Prince Kumar procured her phone number through marriage matrimonial site and contacted her from mobile 447448224887 between January 12 and February 11, 2019.

The accused Prince Kumar sent Priyanka messages on Whatsapp and also called her. The accused lured her with marriage promise and won her confidence.

After some days, the accused Prince Kumar phoned Priyanka and told her that he has been detained by Customs Officer at Delhi Airport and he has to ‘manage’ them. With these tricky words, the accused told Priyanka to deposit Rs 4.09 lakh in his different accounts from time to time for ‘managing’ the Customs Officer. Believing the accused who was going to be her ‘husband,’ Priyanka deposited the money as told to her. But she soon realised that she has been cheated.

Wadi PSI Deshmukh, acting on Priyanka Gupta’s complaint, booked the accused Prince Kumar under Sections 420, 406 of the IPC and launched a search for him.
