Workshop on new techniques of heart by pass operation held in city

Nagpur: A two day Workshop on “Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery” was held in Nagpur, on 5th and 6th of December at Hotel Hardeo. It was organized jointly by Heart Associates, Platina Heart Hospital, Cardio Thoracic Society, Nagpur and Deccan Cardiovascular Club.

At the outset President of Cardio Thoracic Society, Dr. P. K. Deshpande, made opening welcome speech and said Nagpur surgeons were being offered a golden opportunity to interact with contemporary and world renowned surgeons as the Faculty for the workshop.

Dr. Deshpande, a very popular and reputed cardiac surgeon himself, said “we can learn from their experience as a new era has dawned to do cardiac surgery with minimum cuts and morbidity to get better outcome and have reduced mortality.”

Dr. Nikunj Pawar, Director, Heart Associates, Senior Consultant and Chief Cardiac Surgeon, Platina Heart Hospital Nagpur, introduced the Faculty Dr. Maximo Guida, Chief of Services at Medical Centre of Valancia, Chief of Services Metropolitan Hospital of Fundacardio (Heart Foundation) President of Venezuelan Cardiovascular Chapter- Society of Cardiology from 2000 to 2006, General Secretary, of the Latin American Society for Cardio-Vascular and Thoracic Surgery 2000 to 2013

Another Faculty Dr. Ashok Sharma, Ex. consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, CCCDHB, Wellington, New Zealand , Ex Consultant CVTS Surgeon at Wakefienld Heart Centre, New Zealand , Former Consultant SQUH, Muscat, Oman, was introduced by Dr. Anand Sancheti.

Dr. Ashok Sharma – described Redo Mitral Valve Replacement from Right Thoracotomy.
Dr. Maximo Guida spoke on “Left thoracotomy multi vessel grafting”
Dr. S.K. Dehspande, Cardiac Anaestehtist spoke of “Single lung Anaesthesia”
Dr. Vinay Kulkarni described “Trans Esophageal Echography in Cardiac Surgery”

Parmita Desai spoke about “CENTRIMAG” a new generation extra corporeal circulation device using magnetic elevation technique to pump the blood.

On 6th December2016, second day, a Live in box case presentation by the guest Faculty was held. Graphic operative videos with experience of more than 2500 cases of left thoracotomy multivessel coronary artey grafting were shown and lively discussion took place.

Dr. Satish Das, Dr.Anand Deodhar, Dr. Manoj Durairaj, Dr. Anand Sancheti, Dr. Puneet Jandial, Dr. Vivek Kanhere, Dr. Vinod Ahuja, Dr. K.G. Prasanna were the chairpaersons. Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, Secretary CTC, proposed the vote of thanks. The workshop was largely attended by Cardiac surgeons, Cardiac Anaestehtists, Perfusionists drawn from Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Marathawada and Nagpur city.
