Workers of SEAM Industries, Butibori call of indefinite stir after assurance

Nagpur: The indefinite stir launched by workers of M/s SEAM Industries Ltd, Butibori was on Tuesday called off after the management assured in writing to meet the various demands put forth by the agitating workers.

The agitation by the workers, led by Nitin Tiwari, a Vice President of Youth Shiv Sena and an office-bearer of Rashtriya Ispat Asanghatit Kamgar Sangh, Nagpur, was launched from March 12 to protest non-payment of wages since past three months, retrenchment of some workers, etc. The company had not even deposited the workers’ share of Provident Fund deduction, ESIC dues etc. The agitation was led by President of Sanghatan Kamalesh Tripathi, and Working President Sampatrao Wadhai.

The Police Inspector of Butibori MIDC Police Station Santoshrao Vairagade played a pivotal role in ending the agitation. The PI Vairagade held a meeting with HR of the company Funde and the office-bearers of the workers’ union including Kamalesh Tripathi, Sampatrao Wadhai and regular workers of the company. In the meeting the company’s GM Funde and Devrajan assured to pay the pending dues before March 20, 2017. The management also assured to meet various other demands of the workers such as taking back the retrenched workers, minimum wages, house rent, providing of facilities etc. After receiving the assurance, the workers called of their indefinite agitation.

After ending their stir, the workers felicitated the PI Vairagade for his successful intervention that led to assurance from management and end to the agitation.
