Women police officials on motorcycles take out Helmet Rally on Women’s Day

Senior police officials present at the flagging off ceremony

Helmet Rally (2)Nagpur: In another unique drive, the women police officials including senior police officials took out a motorcycle rally to promote compulsory helmet drive on Women’s Day on March 8, 2016.

The rally started from Office of the Traffic Department near Meeta Neem Dargah. From there the rally followed a route of RBI Square to Ram Jhula to Agrasen Square to Ashok Square to Medical Square to Ajni Square to Rahate Colony Square to Lokmat Square to Rani Jhansi Square to Shankar Nagar Square to Law College Square to Ladies Club Square to Akashwani Square and back to the Office of the Traffic Department.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber crime, EOW and HQ) Deepali Masirkar led the rally by driving a motorcycle donning a helmet. The pillion rider with DCP Deepali Masirkar was Police Inspector (Traffic) Shubda Sankhe.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bharat Tangde and all the four senior Police Inspectors of the Traffic department including Police Inspectors Sheikh, Police Inspectors Hiwre, Police Inspectors Pande were prominently present for the flagging off of the Helmet Rally.

Helmet Rally (3)Most of the Women Police Constables, Women Police Inspectors, Women Police Sub Inspectors and other women staff of the Traffic and Head Quarters had also participated in this helmet rally with enthusiasm and zest. The very presence of a DCP riding with them gave them an impetus and pride.

While speaking to Nagpur Today Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber crime, EOW and HQ) Deepali Masirkar said that the citizens of Nagpur ought to come forward in according honour and equal status to women. She said that women today are not behind in any field and have ventured into all realms of the career world and have succeeded too. However, the citizens should ensure that acts of crime against women should be prevented, reported and offenders punished.

DCP Deepali Masirkar said that this rally is taken out to create awareness of safety among women motorcycle riders. She said that most of the working women travel to and fro office on motorcycles and in order to ensure their own safety, they should wear helmet. Those women who come forward and cooperate with the traffic department in ensuring the compulsory helmet rule will be rewarded.
