Nagpur: Hair for Indian women is a prestige issue. Indian women are known worldwide for having the most beautiful and long hair in the world. Hair is the crowning glory for any Indian Women. However, it is only for religious reasons that a woman tonsures her hair. In ancient times widows’ head were tonsured to mark her as a widow.
If a woman willfully tonsures her hair for none of the above reasons, her demand or claim must be really important. While making the demands for a total ban on liquor in the Buldana District, around four to five women and four to five men tonsured their head.
The banner under which the men and women had taken out a Morcha was Matrutirtha Va Vidarbha Pandhari, Buldana District. They demanded that the ministers discuss and ban liquor sale in Buldana District.
They claimed that hundreds of lives are lost because of this liquor addiction every year.
When these protestors were near the barricade, a small girl was holding the barricade and shaking it. Irked by this a lady constable hit the little girl with her cane. This angered the lady and she pulled the cane from the lady constable and hit the lady constable for hitting a small girl. However, senior police officials intervened and prevented the issue from escalating.
