Nagpur: A ‘smart but sly’ woman peeped her friend’s ATM PIN number while she was withdrawing money and later stole the ATM card and herself withdrew Rs 75,000.
The accused Deepmala Patil (35), native of Aheri, District Gadchiroli, had come to her friend Jyoti Dnyaneshwar Satape’s house near Sangam Talkies, Shiv Nagar, Nagpur, for staying there for few days. On 28.2.15, the accused Deepmala and her friend Jyoti had gone for shopping at Big Bazaar. During the shopping, the accused slyly jotted down the ATM PIN number of Jyoti while she was withdrawing money.
Later, Deepmala stole the ATM card of Jyoti from her purse and with the help of jotted down PIN number withdrew Rs 75,000 between March 1 and 2. The transaction of Rs 75,000 was later noticed by Jyoti. Baffled by the accused Deepmala’s unfriendly act, Jyoti decided to file a complaint with Kotwali Police Station.
PSI Sahare, based on the complaint, booked the accused Deepmala under Section 380 of IPC and probing the matter further.
