Nagpur: The winter chill is gripping Nagpur City slowly and steadily as the mercury, on Friday, dipped to 14.3 degrees Celsius signifying that the cool season has commenced. The minimum temperature was 3.3 degrees below normal.

For the past few days, the city was witnessing dry weather. Though the temperature stayed above 30 degrees Celsius during daytime, nights were relatively cooler. In the past couple of days, a cool breeze started blowing. On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, one could feel that the mercury had dipped.

On Friday, many people were seen with warm gear while on their morning walk. In the evening also, some Nagpurians were seen donning sweaters or jackets to protect themselves from the chill. By late night, watchmen at several places across the city had lit up bonfires to get some warmth and fight the cool weather.

It is expected to drop to 15 degrees Celsius on November 1, and then rise to 16 degrees Celsius on November 2, and then rise further to 17 degrees Celsius on November 3 and 4.
