Nagpur: The winter has started knocking on the door of Nagpur as chill is gripping the Second Capital slowly and steadily. The mercury has started dipping, signifying that the cool season has commenced. Nights and mornings have turned cooler.
Nagpur residents are finally getting relief from the heat and humidity. Like other districts in Vidarbha, the impact of northern winds is now visible in Nagpur. These winds are cooler, leading to a drop in temperatures. On Sunday, Nagpur recorded a maximum temperature of 29.5°C, while the minimum temperature on Monday morning was 23.9°C. Over the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature has dropped by 4.6°C. The Meteorological Department predicts that the temperature could decrease by another 3-4°C in the coming days.
Although Nagpur received above-average rainfall this season, the humidity remained high. However, with the retreat of the monsoon, cool weather has settled in. According to the Meteorological Department, another round of rain might occur in Vidarbha. A low-pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal, which could result in light rain or drizzles in Nagpur and nearby areas.
In Nagpur, many people were seen with warm gear while on their morning walk. In the evening also, some Nagpurians were seen donning sweaters or jackets to protect themselves from the chill. By late night, watchmen at several places across the city had lit up bonfires to get some warmth and fight the cool weather.
