Will cops’ failure to arrest Munna Yadav, a CM ‘man’, prove ‘headache’ for Govt in Winter Session?

Nagpur: Munna Yadav, the tainted Chairman of Maharashtra State Construction Workers’ Welfare Board who is wanted as an accused in the case of attempt to murder registered after a clash with his kin on October 21, continues to evade arrest or cops ‘deliberately’ letting him at large due to his closeness with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, could prove ‘headache’ for the government in the Winter Session commencing from Monday, December 11, in Nagpur. A united Opposition is determined to corner the Chief Minister over non-arrest of his confidant for obvious reasons.

The police failure or complacency smacks of a ‘deliberate attempt’ to let the wanted accused roam freely as his wife Laxmi Yadav, the other day disclosed that her husband is not absconding but admitted in Mumbai’s JJ Hospital due to ‘poor health.’ The rattled Tara alias Laxmi Yadav, who is BJP Corporator, in a press release issued on Friday had charged a section of media for running baseless and mischievous reports against her husband and claimed that he was admitted at JJ Hospital for treatment. “In fact, he requires physical help even for routine activities and all the allegations against him are handiwork of his arch rivals and an act of personal vengeance due to repeated defeat in elections, Laxmi claimed.

Now, the million dollar question is: If Munna Yadav is ‘really’ admitted in the Mumbai hospital, then how come the police are not aware of this fact? The city police have not uttered a single word about Munna Yadav’s whereabouts. This attitude of cops raises suspicion over their seriousness to deal with the issue. The Opposition parties would raise the issue in both Houses of the Legislature and put the Fadnavis Government on the edge.

In fact, the NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who is Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, has set the tone by saying that if police are not able to lay hands on the evasive Munna Yadav, then they should scan the details of Chief Minister’s mobile phone. “The scanning of Fadnavis phone would reveal the whereabouts of his confidant,” Munde said sarcastically at a joint press conference of Opposition parties.

“Nagpur police are searching Munna Yadav since the past one and half months. But he has not been apprehended till to date. Is he being saved due to his close proximity with the Chief Minister?” Munde asked.

More than 11 offences were already pending against Munna and his family members in various police stations. But due to political patronage enjoyed by them, he couldn’t be arrested till date. Their family is booked under Sections 324, 325, 147, 148 and 149 of IPC, besides Section 307 (attempt to murder), said sources.
