Nagpur: The widening work of DP Road from Mayo Hospital to Sunil Hotel has gained pace. The work of centre marking was started on August 13 and the City Survey department has started marking the area of shops and residences that comes under the 60-feet range of the proposed road from Thursday.

City Survey Officer Anil Fulzele said that the marking was started at 10 am on Thursday and 45 properties were marked on the first day. Around 300 properties on this road will be affected due to the road widening work. The extra construction of residences and shops done on the road will be demolished. The proposal of widening this road had been pending since last 19 years.

Bhushan Dadve and Paigwar of Madhya Nagpur Vikas Aaghadi had filed a petition in the High Court in this regard. The marking work was slowly after the HC’s directives but now it has gained pace.

Fulzele informed that officers and employees of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) were also present during the marking work. Traffic on the road increases after 10 am as it’s a market place, therefore it was decided to resume the marking work on Friday from 7 in the morning.
