Wathoda cops conduct security drill ahead of Bidgaon, Bahadura Nagar Panchayat polls

Nagpur: To ensure peaceful and incident-free polling in the upcoming Bidgaon and Bahadura Nagar Panchayat elections, the Wathoda Police Station under Zone 5 carried out a large-scale law-and-order preparedness drill on Wednesday at an open ground in Jijamata Nagar. The exercise was conducted under the leadership and supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam.

The comprehensive mock drill featured demonstrations of advanced security measures, including the deployment of tear gas units, modern crowd-control techniques, rapid mobilisation of emergency response teams, and simulation of violent mob and riot response scenarios. The initiative aimed to showcase the police department’s full readiness to protect public safety throughout the election process.

Around 25 police officers and 70 constables participated in the exercise, along with officials from Pardi, Kalamna, and Yashodhara Nagar Police Stations. Those present included Wathoda Police Station in-charge Harish Kumar Borade, Assistant Police Inspectors, Police Sub-Inspectors, and other staff members, who jointly executed the ground-level training modules.

The demonstration highlighted situation-based tactical responses, use of specialised security equipment, strategic planning for polling booths, and measures to safeguard voters and election staff. The drill reinforced the force’s capability to respond swiftly and effectively to any potential law-and-order challenges.

Addressing the personnel and local citizens, DCP Niketan Kadam appealed for public cooperation during the election period. He urged voters to abide by the Model Code of Conduct, avoid unlawful activities, and not fall prey to anti-social elements. He assured that the elections will be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and fear-free environment.
