Nagpur: The hard-hitting stance taken by the Justice Suryavanshi of Special Court dealing the cases under Maharashtra Protection of Interests of Depositors (MPID) Act has forced one of the horde of accused in the high-profile Wasankar investment fraud case to remit Rs 50 lakh in the office of Economic Offences Wing.

The EOW sleuths later deposited the amount in the court of Justice Suryavanshi. The accused Santobagh Chawla has deposited the amount out of crores of rupees the main accused Wasankar and his cohorts collected from hundreds of depositors in the name of astronomical returns on their investments.

In another significant move, the sleuths of Economic Offenses Wing of Nagpur Crime Branch, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW & Cyber Crime) Deepali Masirkar, made some very significant progress in the investigation of the ill-reputed Wasankar case.
